Mission 4A - Mudra She Wrote

Sun thanks Kitaro, grabs the water, takes a sip of it, and starts.
"A human and an elf walk into a bar. The dwarf ducks."
His entire upper body shakes from laughter, not able to contain it.
"Hooo boy, if only Dakou were here. He looooved that joke so much! He'd be rolling across the floor, laughing at it!"

Kitaro chuckles.

"My my mister Dachou, you sure are the funny one of the gang aren't you."

"Why, I guess I am. Did you hear the one about the dwarf en two elves who walk into the bar?"
Sun doesn't even wait for Kitaro to respond.
"A dwarf and two elves walk into a bar. A waitress comes over to take their order.
The dwarf says: 'I'll take a big, fat soysteak, bloody rare, and a beer!'
The waitress replies: 'Alrighty, and what about the vegetables?'
The dwarf answers: 'They'll take the soysteak and beer too and they'll better like it!'"
Sun has to lean against a wall to prevent falling over from laughing by now.

"Yes, haha, very good"

By now Kitaro is looking for a way to escape from this conversation and the best thing he can come up with is a fake commlink call.

"I'm sorry, I really need to take this"

Kitaro sits down at a table a couple of meters away from Sun and pretends to talk to someone over his commlink.

In the matrix
Round 1, pass 1

Sam and Lycos unite to attempt to mark the samurai using brute force. His firewall is extremely tight though and manages to repel Lycos. This is bad news for Sam's deck which takes significant damage. ((4 matrix damage)). Sam on the other hand is far more successful and manages to get a mark on the samurai. He glitches a bit from the strike and blows a horn. A ninja in black and yellow clothes appears and tosses a spear attached to a chain at Sam. Luckily Sam manages to side step the incoming attack. The spear reappears in the ninja's hand ready for a new attack.

Meanwhile Emiko searches for anything related to feng shui. She finds nothing specific on on the topic comes across an e-mail database of company messages sent out to everyone in the office. There might be something interesting in there, but she will have to hack into it to find out.

Round 1, pass 2

Lycos goes in with a bolt of antiquated search data. The samurai is so focused on defending against Sam that the bolt strikes him solidly, causing a massive glitch in his icon.

His defense is not in vain though as he manages to shrug off Sam's attempt to mark him.

The yellow ninja then follows up with another spear attack at Sam. The spear strikes Sam's icon squarely in the chest attaching him by the chain to the yellow ninja. ((Sam is link-locked))

The samurai follows up with a slice of his katana which strikes Sam but does no visible damage.

Sam and Lycos' combo go about the same this time as last time. Sam misses, but is unharmed by it and Lycos manages to lay in a major strike to the icon that has it glitching so much it's hard to make out at this point. It looks like any more damage will be enough to take it out at this point.

The yellow ninja tosses another spear at Sam. This one also hits, creating another chain from the ninja to Sam's icon.

Meanwhile the samurai focuses on Sam and a black cloud of smoke issues forth, seeping into his icon.

Emiko examines the database. Mostly it's useless company announcements. She does notice one message about a month and a half ago mentioning that the facility would be undergoing new management. Given what you already know, she surmises this was probably when the Sumiyoshi took over, though they are not mentioned specifically by name. The only e-mail that specifically mentions feng shui reads:

To all employees:

We will be bringing in a feng shui specialist to ensure the prosperity of this lab. The specialist's name is Takeda Onmyō, so if you happen to notice him in the halls this week, there is no need to alert security. Please cooperate with any suggestions he may have for better ki flow. Also, he will be doing extensive work in the fifth floor garden, so we would appreciate if everyone would avoid the area for this week. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The e-mail includes an image of Takeda. He looks like he does in the other picture you have of him. This e-mail is dated about a month ago.

Emiko sighs in relief of getting her mark, searches the database and reads the email. Satisfied with knowing where they focus the team can focus their efforts, she reconfigures her deck F8 A6 S4 D2 and messages Sam:

Sun looks over to Kintaro and taps him on the shoulder to get his attention from the phonecall.
"Did you hear the grinding sounds Sam's phone made? What was that about?"

Kitaro says to his commlink

"Can I call you back, something has come up. Sorry chummer."

He puts away the commlink and walks over to the booth, pulls the curtain aside a few inches and peeps inside.

"Emiko? mister Decker? Is everything ok in there?"

He sits back down at his table, takes out his commlink again, and performs a a matrix search on "Matrix deck strange noises"

After Lycos and Jeeves make their attacks, Sam reconfigures to F9 A6 D6 S4

He grits his teeth in preparation for the dumpshock as he attempts to jack out.

As Jeeves awaits Lycos to double team the Samurai, he makes a quick, deadly sword attack on Sam that sends sparks through both his computer and physical system. ((5 matrix damage, 6S damage))

The samurai has no further chance to respond as he's struck by Jeeves and Lycos, exploding his icon in a cloud of data.

The yellow ninja continues throwing spears at Sam, but it misses as a blue ninja appears and launches a bolt of cold at Sam. It freezes up the guard program then smashes it to pieces. ((guard program is crashed and can't run until you've rebooted your cyberdeck))

Battered, but not beat, Sam tries to jack out of the host, but struggles against the chain binding him.
