Downtime after mission

It is about a week since your last job. You made enough to cover rent and some minor expenses, but you all still seek further employment. In the mean time, you have some free time to do as you like.

I think Chougou needs to go over his inventory and see that some of them may be less than legal...

((I can see some of the problems that I had in creating him, just too much to take in all at once, but I also didn't spend all of his money and I read that that disappears if not used during character creation? Would I be able to revisit my sheet with the understanding of things that I have now whilst removing the things that I shouldn't have had like the Lynx and some of the smartguns?))

As mentioned, WuJen spends probably the bulk of that time upgrading to a low lifestyle from his short tenure at the street level.  Yay regular showers, semi-abundant wifi, and most of the flavor faucets for my nutri-soy working.  As a National SINner, I imagine most of that was more a case of re-establishing interrupted services than trying to work outside the system as most 'runners do.

I'll also be studying (and spending the karma for) the first rank of your enchanting skill, as it's the only magical skill I completely lack and I really should not.

The rest I will bank for the moment.  I'm not sure what the exchange rate on cash to karma is, and I don't expect it to matter as my next most desired purchase is another Force for Tatsuo.

The description of Sun's time, at the end of Mission 1, is pretty spot on: Training and sparring with Sanji, and helping out with classes in his dojo.

(Ah, Gotcha.  Then I'll be converting 4k into 2 karma, and banking that.  Tatsuo needs something on the order of 48 Karma all on her own, plus initiation and group costs, plus new spells, rituals, bonding foci... basically several truckloads.  I could spend 100 Karma right now and never touch my magic rating, skills or attributes)

When do we want to start the magic group? Now, or at a later time ?

Whenever ya'll are ready to initiate I guess.  There's no point to it beforehand.  I won't be initiating for... uh... well... maybe another 70 Karma or so.

We can make the group then we can choose to initiate when ready.  If we wait til you get 70 karma i could be initiate level 3 by then,  that's why i asked.

Well, in the very least it could be useful to have a lodge dedicated for your group.

Even if you aren't intiating now, lodges are useful to have.

I'd not make ya'll wait on me to start the group.  I just don't have any personal use for it for a long time coming.

It's gonna set me back what, 10 Karma?  5 for the group, 5 for the ritual?  and I guess the materials to make the lodge?

Presumably they will chip in to spread out those costs.

How much is the lodge?  And I'm obviously willing to spend 5 karma and 2500Y to form the group now plus a share for the lodge or more if needed.  

If not I'm thinking spending a month initiating solo with ordeal for 10% discount,  and paying next month rent. And i got 500Y left to add to my pocket

Lodge materials are relatively cheap.  Force * 500 Nuyen

GM said 5 karma each and we could pay 2k to 1 karma to help you get the ritual, this the 2.5k cost. Plus whatever the cost of the lodge is. I can add more than my share if needed for the lodge.

So far as I understand it, it takes:


5 Karma per member

5 Karma to learn the ritual to form the group.  Also some NuYen to buy the formula for the ritual, though that might be covered by my Datastore Access

Ritual requires a lodge = to Force, so 13 * 500 is 6500 Nuyen.

We might want to think about where we are putting that lodge, though Sato probably has space.

That said, I don't mind the 5 karma to form the group.  I don't have the 5 to learn the ritual without help from the group.

I really don't have 6500Y laying around to build the lodge, though I do already have materials for a force 1 lodge.

However, by the end of the next mission we should be all set to start the group.  Some of you might even be good to initiate while you are at it.

yeah, that's right. lodge materials are force x 500. They also have an availability of force x 2. It may take a few days to acquire, then some time to set up. You guys currently have the down time to do it, just letting you know that these things to take time.

Presumably you will be taking strictures to lower that force from 13 as that is beyond your magic rating anyway. You can potentially get it down to force 5 with enough strictures. A lot of them are pretty easy to take. Fraternity (you have to help each other when asked), attendance (you have to have regular meetings) and exclusive membership (you can't be bonded to any other groups) are pretty easy to do. Every 2 strictures is -1 to the force. If you choose for there to be an actual penalty for violating those strictures, you can take off another 1 or 2 from the force, depending on the penalty. Up to you what you want the penalty for violating those things to be (branding, burning, crippling, magic loss, or death) but I wouldn't expect you guys to violate those at least.

I can do a ritual up to force 12, like spellcasting?

Oh, we might want a lot of reagents to bring the drain down.  Like, A lot.

This thing is going to do drain not just to me, but to the whole group, and potentially physical at that.

It seems the lodge isn't needed for the ritual.  You can use reagents to make a temporary lodge, which reduces the price considerably.

Not sure if you have to have the lodge to have a group though.
