He seems a little overwhelmed by everything and doesn't say much. He doesn't particularly carry himself as a martial artist, but he has a lean, wiry frame for an orc. Feng shui can make you more healthy overall, but it won't stop a bullet from killing you, so don't go jumping off buildings thinking you are a super hero or something. That said, walk with me, talk with me. Let's go shopping." She makes a quick call on her commlink informing someone that she's going out with a client and another woman comes out from the back from to take over the front desk. Once the desk is manned, she takes Kitaro to a nearby clothing retailer. The store is a mid-level 'nice' clothing shop. The clothes aren't cheap, but they won't break the bank either. She shows Kitaro around and picks out a few outfits as she talks, "So feng shui is about directing ki. Ki responds to certain elements. While you might direct ki by placing those elements in certain locations in a building, this is not how we deal with it in fashion. Instead, these elements are are represented by different colors and shapes which we try to incorporate into an outfit. "For good health, you want to incorporate the element of earth. In this context it represents unity, connectedness, balance and stability; all aspects that are important for one's good health. Color-wise, we are looking for yellow tones. It doesn't have to be lemon yellow, but a more muted mustard or amber can do just fine. As for shapes, we are looking for squares. Their sturdy and solid frame represent hearty health. Subtle checker patterns work best. You don't have to look like a shogi board to incorporate the element..." She keeps talking and showing different outfits which she makes Kitaro try on. Eventually they pick out a couple of outfits that look good on Kitaro and the price tag for them runs 200 nuyen. |

Emiko goes for a run to clear her mind and then spends the next 20 minutes soaking in a bubble filled tub while sipping hot tea in an effort to relax her nerves. She thinks, "It's true. Lord Enma is watching me and that damn oni is proof. How can I do what I do and not have my face and tongue ripped off again? I need to pull myself together!"
Emiko gets dressed and goes over Sam's list. She lands on Lucky Buddha Feng Shui Specialists and decides to give them a visit. She decides to tell them that she's been tasked by a group to find out what could make a garden, like the one in the picture, perfectly feng shui. "I'm not lying or being deceitful," she says to herself.

 | Emiko The facade of Lucky Buddha Feng Shui Specialists features a rotund happy monk caricature. Though many refer to this figure as "happy Buddha", he is actually one of the shichifukujin or seven lucky gods. Specifically Hotei, the god of abundance and health. Stepping inside, Emiko is relieved to see no oni lurking around. Instead she is engulfed in a cloud of what she hopes is incense smoke. In the dimly lit room filled with various statues, charms, candles and other unidentifiables sits a man in ragged clothes quietly meditating. His clothing is in such bad shape that at first Emiko thinks it's a homeless squatter. However, the bell of the front door appears to awaken him from his reverie and he gets to his feet. "Like, welcome to Lucky Buddha Feng Shui Specialists, lady. How can I help you on this most auspicious of days?" Once questioned about the garden, he takes a look at it and says, "There are like, soooo many things you gotta do to properly channel the ki in a garden, lady. First ya gotta open yer mind, ya hear me? We use quality deep weed to align our chakras with the astral plane so we can properly see the area's ki flow. If you can't do that, yer basically walkin blind, ya dig? Then it's all about directing the flows using the five elements. There's earth, fire, water, wood and metal, right?" He taps the picture and says, "See here? Right at the entrance there's a nice flowing fountain. Toooootal water, baby! Get that stuff flowing there and you've got yerself ki focused on building a sweet career, ya hear me? Sweet sweet business! Betcha anything that there fountain's full of arowana fish. LOVE those little guys." Tapping another portion of the picture to the upper left he says, "And see here? See how the water flows to the south east where there's all those jade plants? Yeah, arowana and jade plants are total cures for wealth. You see, wood in general represents wealth, but especially plants with round leaves like jade because coins are round and coins symbolize wealth. But it's not just about element, ya see? You gotta nourish the elements too. And what does water nourish? Plants! You followin me, lady?" Towards the right he points out large brass statue of Hotei and says, "And this fella over here is the lucky Buddha, yeah? See how he's made out of brass and sitting on the west side of the room? He's representing metal, baby! And when you put metal on the west side of the building it gets all the creative juices flowing. Helps you think up new spiffy ideas, ya dig? Then there's this here place way up on the south side. See the fire pit? Bet you can guess what element THAT represents. Fire to the south builds your reputation. This garden is like totally far out for a business or something. I be they make cash hand over fist." He continues to go on about various details in the garden, focusing on where everything is placed to activate different elements. He even pulls out a chart he calls a bagua map that apparently details where everything is supposed to go to channel different things and how apparently there are two different schools of feng shui that have different ideas on where everything should be placed, one preferring everything being placed relative to cardinal directions while the other preferring everything be placed relative to an entrance. It is all apparently very complicated. |
