Seeing the spirit burst, Emiko quickly goes back to help Sam.  She plugs in to a nearby computer, connects cold sim while running silent, and hacks on the fly to look for Sam.

To Sam she writes:

As the spirit is dealt with, Kitaro places a wet cleaning rag over his mouth to try and protect himself from the gas.
He sees that Torpor has a gas mask and begins to crawl towards him hoping he will share a few breaths of clean air.
Through the rag he mumbles.

"Does anyone have a stim patch! I'm about to pass out here!"

Combat Turn 3, pass 1

The samurai notices Sam and alerts the system IC to his location. A yellow ninja appears and tosses a chained spear at Sam but misses.

Trying to get out as soon as possible, Sam uses his agents to help him hack the gas system and disable it. He is successful, but the systems defenses are breathing down his neck.

Emiko logs into the system and manages to gain access to the host, where she sees a samurai and ninja attacking Sam. She lets him know that she is there to help.

Sun meanwhile gives the door a mighty punch. Though it is reinforced to keep people in, it is not reinforced enough to stop a magical dwarven wrecking ball. The door crumples and is ripped off it's rails, landing on the ground on the other side, where Sun notices a turret has lowered from the ceiling near the elevator and is pointing in his direction. He hears the whir of a gattling gun warming up...

Kitaro does his best to block out the gas with a cleaning rag and asks Torpor for a stim patch and gas mask. Torpor doesn't share his gas mask, but does apply a slap patch to Kitaro. Kitaro feels invigorated, but it is an artificial high that will no doubt crash in the not too distant future. ((it brings you back down to 6S for the time being))

If he has not been speared by the yellow ninja by the time his turn comes up, he jacks out safely. If he has been speared already, he activates his configurator and attacks the yellow ninja.

Combat Turn 3, pass 2

The samurai and ninja converge on Sam. Luckily the ninja's spear misses him entirely, but the samurai's sword is another story. It slices into Sam's persona, sending biofeedback through his body. ((5 matrix damage and 4 Stun damage))

Sam's agents find the door controls, as well as the cameras and point them out to Emiko as Sam jacks out gracefully.

The turret begins filling the hallway with bullets, but Sun dives out of the doorway just in time. The turret continues firing where he was as he does his best to flip a desk through the door. Bullets tear through the wood as he slowly moves forward through the hallway, shoving the desk along. It is perhaps not the most bulletproof of cover, but it seems to be doing the job never the less. Torpor moves with Sun, keeping cover behind the desk as he occasionally pops up and fires a the turret. He actually manages to connect a shot which damages the turret, but not enough to halt the incoming hail of bullets.

In matrix space, Emiko finds the controls for the lab door, however they are providing an operation error, preventing her from making use of them.

((We're still waiting on the final pass from the NPCs, but I'm super impatient. And I don't think anything the turret or Samurai does will change that Sam needs to get back in to disable the turret.))

He sets his deck back to run silent, and reenters the host through the computer that he is still plugged into, jacking back in to cold SIM.

With Sam gone, the samurai scans the system for further intruders and finds Emiko. The ninja then tosses a spear at her. Luckily, she manages to avoid it.

Meanwhile the turret continues to punch holes through the desk, sending chips of wood everywhere. Torpor is grazed by the spray of fire as he pops up and tries to shoot the turret, but misses.

As bullets begin spraying in through the door, Kitaro crawls as far away from the entrance as possible.
He watches how Sun pushes over a desk, uses it as cover, and begins to bravely make his way to the turret together with Torpor.

He yells

*"Be careful!"*

But his voice is drowned by the sound of the machine gun.

Seeing how Sun is putting his body in the line of fire he casts armor on him to help keep him alive.

Frustrated at failing to open the door, Emiko wants to prove she can do something. She sends another flurry of origami birds at the turret program, hoping to knock it out before anyone on her team gets hurt.

Combat Turn 4, pass 1

The Samurai summons forth a black, smoky ninja to join the fight as the system searches for Sam and Emiko. Judging by the lack of incoming attacks, they appear to have remained hidden.

Sam's agents manage to locate the turret's controls and forward the address to Emiko.

The turret continues to fire down upon the approaching desk, tearing it to pieces. Luckily neither Torpor nor Sun take any damage, but they can feel the whiff of bullets punching through the desk and flying past them.

Torpor attempts to fire another shot, but it's hard when you're trying to avoid incoming fire. He misses entirely.

Luckily Sun manages to shove the desk about as close to the turret as he possibly can without getting shot. He is within punching distance, but whether he can do that without getting shot or not is a different story.

Emiko's flurry of origami birds tears through the turret's system, completely destroying it in a flurry of viral code. In the meat world, the turret smokes, sparks and eventually stops firing

Since he knows the astral barrier would ruin his spell, Kitaro steps out of the room and throws a protective spell on Sun, who glows with white energy. Though it is a moment too late to be helpful against the turret, since it is now a smoking mess. Still, no one ever complained about not getting shot.

Sam activates his configurator, and orders Lycos to data spike the camera nearest to their physical location. He orders Jeeves to look for the data storage, and then he data spikes it.

Kitaro puts his hand on Sun's shoulder and says.

"Well done mister Dashou!"

He points towards the vault door.

"Would you mind using your big muscles and open that door for us?"

Sam opens his eyes and notices that he's got a decent sized headache from getting virtually sliced at by ninjas. He fishes into his medkit for some aspirin.

Sun walks into the lab and tries to open the vault door.

Wanting to do as Sam asked, Emiko begins an attack on one of the cameras. However, she notices the samurai has found her and mutters "crap!" to herself and decides to jack out instead. She once again mutters to herself but this time in a robotic voice, "I'll be back."

Sun opens the vault and finds a room about the size of a typical bathroom. There are shelves around the room with small, magic-proof cases that aren't locked but are closed to prevent magical bleeding and contamination between the various items contained in the room. Each case has a window, allowing one to see the contents with ease. Sun finds a large, volleyball-sized egg, several boxes of assorted reagents (around 100 hermetic and 100 shinto variety), about a dozen scrolls, a leather-bound book, and fist-sized chunk of black rock.

Meanwhile Emiko manages to just barely sneak out of the matrix, dodging a pair of incoming attacks.

There is no audible alarm in the building, but one can reasonably assume that the security has been well alerted by this point. According to the files Sam and Emiko stole earlier, the guards who have been encountered up to this point are just the first line of defense and not too heavily armed or trained. A high threat team is no doubt on the way and one can assume they will be far more of a danger than anything you've faced in the building thus far.
