Mission 4A - Mudra She Wrote

Sam plugs into the port and is presented with a password screen which is so feeble it is barely worth his effort getting into. The password is literally "password". He is presented with an array of controls with the flame including on/off, height, width, color and shape. Sam lowers the height a bit, but those observing the astral plane notice nothing in particular change there.

Sam continues to lower it incrementally, pausing to find out if it has made a difference on the astral plane at each increment.

There is no noticeable change on the astral plane until the flame is pretty much extinguished completely. At that point the swirling energy in the room seems to diverge slightly. It's not so much of a difference as to spoil the room entirely, but it's a difference.

Kitaro starts thinking out loud.

"Hmmm, it seems like we need to make bigger changes then i thought to mess this feng-shui up"

He then turns to Sam.

"Mister Dekker, do you think you can turn off that flame and then brick the mechanism so they cannot turn it on again?"

Emiko follows Kitaro and says, "we definitely need to kick it up a notch but I'm hoping not so much it will look the place was vandalized. What if we start messing with colors, patterns, and fabrics. The chart mentions those and their importance, even relating to location. Kitaro, can you work some "magic" on some fabric and we can hide them out of sight. May be worth a try." Emiko shrugs.

Kitaro nods and grabs some cleaning rags from the cart.
With his tong between his teeth he focusses on the pile of rags and tries to create the least feng-shui like pattern on them he can think of. Bright pink with yellow polka dots.

Sam considers that the employees at this office likely don't actually spend much time in this garden, and as long as there isn't any actual damage, they probably won't notice larger changes than the ones that have been tried so far.

"Sun," he says, "see what happens if you swap the location of the benches and that big mirror over there."

Sun shrugs, walks up to the mirror and gets to swapping it with one of the benches.

Emiko will help by making sure no move marks are left behind.

Sam joins in and helps by moving some potted plants, that seem within his capability to carry, to the other side of the bridge. He turns the flame off so that it can be moved safely.

Kitaro carries the pile of polka dotted fabric over to Emiko and hands it over with a small bow and a smile.

"Here you go."

He then carefully helps moving stuff around making sure he doesn't get himself dirty while doing it. Also he tries to avoid breaking a sweat.

Sam looks at the statue from across the garden and tries to determine about how much he thinks it might weigh.

Kitaro casts a levitation spell and carefully lifts the statue about an inch from the ground.

"Where shall I put it mister Dekker?"

Sam shrugs.

"Over there, I guess," he says, motioning vaguely to the general vicinity of the flame.

Kitaro proceeds and gently switches the places of the statue and the fireplace.
He tries to place them as exact as possible so they cover the imprints of the previous object as well as possible.

Once this is done Kitaro will take a look in the astral plane again to see how the little creatures respond to these changes.

When Kitaro hands the fabric to Emiko, she looks at it with amazement. "This is somehow horribly beautiful. Thank you, it's perfect." Then, Emiko goes around placing the cloth in inconspicuous places." Meanwhile, using her earbuds, she listens for the elevator or anyone coming.

With the noise, Emiko says to Sam and Sun, "whatever we've done, it seems to have worked. The spirits are going crazy. Maybe we should finish up and get out of here."

Kitaro nods to Emiko, puts the cleaning gear in the cart and starts pushing it towards the elevator.

Sam plugs back in to the flame and turns it back on, at about the same level as it started at. He disconnects and reboots his deck, closing the access panel as best he can without the key. Then he joins Kitaro and Emiko at the elevator.

Sun gets into the elevator, along with the others.

Sam easily disconnects from the fire pit and restores it to it's previous condition. The access hatch is designed to automatically lock on closing so that is little trouble to shut down.

With you all in the elevator, you head down to the 4th floor. The doors open just as a pair of guards are walking by. They notice you and one says, "I don't recognize any of you. Show me your badges."

It is clear that these men are armed with pistols among other things, so apparently they are authorized to use lethal force on the premises but aren't super heavily armed.

Sam holds up his badge for inspection.

Kitaro smiles and holds up his badge.

"Good evening fellow workers. we're the new janitors."
