Mission 4A - Mudra She Wrote

"They are fine. You did not jack out when I told you to."

> I did but ninja attacked me

Sam doesn't respond to that. He just continues to stand there.

Emiko notices Sam not say anything so she writes
> What happened after the matrix
> How did my throat get cut?

"I do not know," Sam responds.

Sam stands there for a few seconds, then he adds "I assume the spider traced me and sent people after us at the internet cafe."

> We need Kitaro and Sun
> Are they here too

"No. They are at the community center. Why do we need them?"

Emiko smiles lightly to Sam and then writes
> Please contact Kitaro and Sun
> Ask them to visit soon
> Good to see you're doing well

"Okay," Sam says.
He messages Kitaro and Sun:
>>>>>> Emiko wants you two to visit her.
"Done."

> You don't have to stay if you don't want
> I do enjoy your company though

It takes a while before Sam and Emiko get a message back.

"Hhhow areerereee youyiy whertrtr qre youiu gotd youeur derckjjj iiuiuio canbb fioixcxc it ytytyou wanbntr mlme tyto fdffix ioioit?"

"Okay," Sam says. "Thank you."
He heads towards the door. As he's about to leave, he receives Sun's garbled message (Emiko doesn't have a commlink, so she doesn't get his message).
"No! Sun!" He shouts, as he opens the door and leaves Emiko's room.
He makes a voice call to Sun.

Sun picks up. "Good day, sir or madam. This is Sun Dashou speaking. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

"Sun! Do not try to fix my deck! Just leave it in <a secure room that Sam would know of in the community center>! I am coming to get it now."

"Okay mister!"

Sun puts his commlink in his pocket without actually having hung up. Sam can hear lots of shuffling and random, muffled flards of conversations while Sun puts Sam and Emiko's commlink at the designated spot.

Sam sends a message to his scooter to pick him up, then hurries to the community center to claim his deck.

Sam makes it back to the community center and finds that his deck is in one piece. It smells like burnt toast and the modules he installed on it are completely melted to slag, but it is otherwise still in serviceable condition.

Meanwhile Kitaro has asked Sam to send him the address of the medical facility and the room number that Emiko is in.
He has also collected her deck from the room it was stashed in.

"Mister Dashou, are you coming? I'm going to visit miss Emiko in the hospital"

Kitaro will then drive towards the hospital, together with Sun if he wants to come.
At the hospital he will request a visit with miss Emiko Amaterasu in room <the number Sam has given him>.

Sam takes his deck back to his apartment and gets to work fixing it.

After about 25 minutes of work, he has his deck back up and running. He checks on the data that he downloaded from the office earlier, to make sure it's still there.
Whether it is or not, now that his deck is back up and running he feels much better. So, he takes a nap.

Sun hurries to join Kitaro in checking up on miss Emiko, dying to know how badly he screwed up, but glad she's at least alive.

Kitaro and Sun head to the secure clinic and it is soon clear that this place has a rather no-nonsense approach to the security of its patients. There are armed guards at the entrances, bulletproof glass on the windows, and thick steel doors preventing unauthorized entry. Cameras, rail-mounted drones, and various other security measures also keep the clientele safe from any potential threats to their lives.

The two tell reception who they've come to see and (assuming Emiko allows them entry) they are buzzed in and escorted to Emiko's room by a tough-looking armed guard. However, before entry, they are frisked and any weapons they have on them are taken away. Sun in particular notices that his staff is having trouble making it past the threshold, likely the result of a mana barrier.

Once they are in the room, the guard leaves to allow them privacy and shuts the door behind him. There is a button on the wall to press should you need assistance or an escort back to the exit.

Emiko buzzes them in.

When Kitaro and Sun show up with the guard, Emiko is already out of bed and greet each other with a hug. On paper she writes:

> What happened after Sam and I were in the matrix?
> How did my throat get cut?

Kitaro tries not to stare at Emiko's throat while talking to her.

"It's good to see you Emiko. I'm so happy you're alright! Here I brought you something"

Kitaro hands Emiko a box of chocolates.
He then proceeds with telling the story of what happened in the café. Slightly embellishing the role Sun an he played in it but close to the truth.
