Setting up home base

Cinder says, "I was trying to be careful at first, though the webs are MUCH easier to destroy on the physical plane than the astral. But when the spiders showed up, they had a much easier time attacking me while I was in astral form so I had to switch. Did you not SEE the size of those spiders? Honestly the entire building should burn to the ground, just to be safe."

When asked to come along, the spirit stops burning things and follows along.

"Well we need the building, and need it inhabitable by those of us made of mere flesh at that, though I do find your reasoning fairly sound."


"In fact, given the reported presence of a 'spider-woman'... I don't even know.  First a pack of Ghouls with low morals and less humanity, then giant dual natured spiders, now a spider woman...  Well, we do still need the building."

Sun tells Carl they're gonna meet up later, then turns to the ghouls. "Got you guys some food. Now let's see what all that spider lady stuff is about." He rushes off to the rooftop, to help Torpor and Ichigo

Chougou sends the rotodrone to the roof and puts the duelist in an inconspicuous position to watch the ghouls, almost like it's powered down and just leaning against the wall.

Chougou's drone, Wujen and Sun make it to the roof to find Torpor and Ichigo standing near the door to the elevator service room. There is nothing at all threatening to be seen.

WuJen switches to Astral sight, and puts his commlink away.

"Guys, we just heard Ichigo shout for help against a 'spider woman', but you seem pretty unconcerned.  I take it either someone is playing with our comms or there is illusion at work here.  Or... is there a Spider Woman in there?"

A quick look around on the astral plane shows nothing out of the ordinary. There is a significant amount of blood on the ground near the entrance to the elevator service room as well as some web-like residue.

(ooc: Fresh, or at least wet blood?  That seems suspicious...)

"Guys?"

WuJen is suspicious.  Keeping an eye out for astral threats, he begins casting Improved Reflexes on Sun with Little Dragon's aid.

(ooc: I can't tell if the lack of response is just Torpor and Ichigo not having a chance to reply IRL, or if things are as hinky as they seem with them not responding and there being blood everywhere.  Also, damn.  I wish I had cast that Improved reflexes with some reagents or at a higher force.)

"I was born ready," Sun says. He gets his staff out and places himself in front of the door, ready to charge at anything at the other side.

Torpor looks confused for a moment, "What the frag! She was dead, there was no pulse. Where the frag did she go? She looked almost unassuming, like a normal young lady, except when the spider was..." He swings his arm up and looks around switching back to thermographic vision he scans the buildings around him.

The blood is about as fresh as it can be; as if spilled only seconds ago. The door to the service room is open so Wujen has no need to open it. Both Torpor and Ichigo are just inside the entrance, frantically looking around in horror. Torpor clearly has the remnants of some of that webbing clinging to his clothing.

On the astral plane, everything remains normal. At least normal for the astral plane. The usual swirls of energy and the occasional spirit going by is all that can be seen.

Torpor looks up at the room and all around but finds no heat readings other than the obviously warm 2nd floor that is visible through the elevator shaft.

"Alright, so let's look around for that elevator key while we are here. One insurmountable problem at a time."

WuJen studies Torpor and Ichigo intently, as well as their immediate area for traces of recently cast spells.

(Please roll the astral perception, I'm on my phone for the foreseeable future and it's a bear to get it right, really any rolls would be helpful. Besides, if I don't do it I might actually roll better...)

"Cinder, did you encounter any more of the spiders besides the ones you killed downstairs, or did you experience anything odd during their attacks?"

"Illusion could simply be an innate ability of the spider, an effect of their venom, or maybe we have something else up here with us as well. Still not topping sketchy ninja job application for weirdest thing this week, but it's getting close, and we paid for this privledge instead of the other way around."

"She was friggin right here((Ichigo points to where the body was)) torpor and I dropped her and I checked for a pulse, she didn't have one and now she's friggin gone! Man this drek is really pissing my the freg off"

((@Wujen - No worries. I usually do whatever rolls if they are not provided in the post so we don't have to sit around waiting for someone to roll whatever action they intended to do.))

Wujen can sense no signs of magic. The webbing is dual-natured, much like the webbing from downstairs (though it is quickly losing it's connection to the astral now that it has been torn apart). But other than that, there is nothing to pick up.

Cinder replies, "I have been following you and not encountered anything you have not. I did not finish going through the rooms below before you interrupted me, so there may be more down there."

"So they didn't attack you with illusion or anything similar, and you killed all you encountered before I interrupted you?"

Torpor says, "The key is right there, however, there is a ladder going down the shaft... OMG !!! That was the woman from the bottom of the shaft ! She heard us go to the top and followed us up from inside and ambushed us. I know it." He then starts pointing at the service ladder going down the shaft.

Torpor goes to the ladder leading down and yells, "Are you still down there?"

There is no reply from below.

"Frag it... When I said she might turn out to be a vampire or something it was supposed to be humorous to break the tension... I swear that the local gangs better stay clear or so help me I will *improvise* a nuke spell"

Torpor says, "I could be wrong, but I don't it. She is now out and free. Whether she was with the gangers that broke in it not she was not dressed like a lab tech. But she definitely ghosted."

Torpor says, "Though I wonder, what if she is still down there but was projecting up here when she attacked us. We need to get down there and check it out. Here is the key." As he takes the key off the hook, "Let's go open it up and see. Then we need to finish cleaning the second floor as well as the third."

"Lead on. Let's get this done... We are gonna be scrubbing this place for weeks."

Torpor says, "let's start back on the first floor opening the shaft with the key then go back to the second floor." He then takes the key and heads back to the first floor after shutting the door to the elevator room and relocking the door.
