    Initiative doesn't glitch. You just add up the numbers. The only penalty is you go slower.

    So, how do I GTFO now? Can I just jack out? Or do I need to get to the IO node? And can I just sort of run past these guys to the IO node, or will I have to take unreasonable amounts of attacks/damage if I run past them or just try to jack out right in front of them?

    There are 2 ways to do it. If you use push the limit you add your edge to the roll with rule of 6's applying. You also ignore any limits, which can be nice. If you are going to use it though, you really should use it prior to rolling as the rule of 6's applies to all dice if you use it before the roll, but only to the edge dice if you apply it afterward.

    Otherwise, if you use second chance, you reroll any dice that were not hits. This doesn't adjust your limit at all, but if you have a high limit that you are unlikely to hit, then it might be better, particularly if you have a lot of misses or a low edge score. Also, since this is used after you roll, it probably is a better, "oh shit I need to roll better" option than push the limit if you didn't choose to use push the limit first.

    You aren't link-locked, so you can switch to AR (which is a simple action) then jack out (which is also a simple action). You do not need to roll anything for either action. If you were link locked, you would not be able to switch modes, and you would need to make a check to jack out (suffering dump shock). If you jack out without first switching to AR, you suffer dump shock, so that is an important step.

    So, I've got 5 stun damage and my firewall is down to, I think, 0. How do I fix those things? Was the firewall damage physical damage to my deck?

    Stun damage goes away on it's own in a few hours. There are specific rules on exactly how quick that involve rolling body dice and dividing time by hits, but it will probably be gone by the time you do anything where stun damage will be an issue so we probably wont have to worry about it.

    Physical damage takes a lot longer to fix. You fix what you can with a first aid check (which is hindered by armor), then heal what you can with magic (which is hindered by cyberware). If you do magic first, the wounds close up too much for first aid to be of any help, so you should always do first aid first. You only get one shot at healing a particular set of wounds, so if it doesn't all get healed, that means you have to heal the rest naturally, which takes something like a day per box of damage. So if you get hospitalized, you could end up in bed for a couple of weeks, though probably shorter if you have someone providing good treatment.

    If you have the biotech skill, the first aid specialty is used for field treatment of injuries (which is immediate boxes gained) and medicine is used for quicker longterm recovery afterwards. So the order of treatment for best results is: first aid, magic, medicine.

    Note that due to the way healing works, a dickish mage who wants to keep someone injured but not dead could potentially heal someone for 1 box of health with a force 1 heal spell, and force the injured person to heal all the rest of their injuries naturally.



    Now, as for the firewall, that particular IC was just messing with the software that serves as your firewall. Once you reboot the deck, it will be fine. If you took any matrix damage (like Chougou did) that is damage to your physical hardware. It requires you to pop out the toolkit and do some repairs. Each check takes an hour with a number of boxes repaired equal to your hits though extra hits can be used to divide the repair time. Should you critically glitch the repair, your deck is bricked, so be careful. A regular glitch means your deck will be acting weird for a while (up to me to decide what that means).

    Are drugs and BTLs illegal where we are? I was thinking of acting drunk, but then they might not smell it, but if I act high or on BTLs will they try to arrest me?

    To answer the questions of encryption, yes, Sam can attempt to encrypt remotely, though Chougou has to give him permission, otherwise he has to hack his way into Chougou's system.

    As for what is needed to do it, it's part of the "edit file" action. It is a simple action using computer+logic[data processing]. The number of hits is the rating of the encryption. For extra security, you can place a data bomb on a file which is a complex action. Computer+logic[sleaze] to do that. Anyone trying to open a file with a data bomb on it takes a bunch of matrix damage (whatever net hits you have x 1d6). You can also decide to have the file get deleted when the bomb is triggered or not.

    It's kind of weird amongst Health spells as it has a variable threshold, how does it work in 5th?

    The number of possible hits are limited by the force of the spell, but basically each hit gives you +1 to reaction and every 2 hits gives you an initiative die (total of 5d6 is max anyone can have regardless of what other mods you have though).

    So if you cast it at force 6 and got 10 hits, the last 4 hits would be ignored (unless you were using reagents to up the limit) and you would get +6 reaction and +3d6 initiative dice.
