fyi, you have about an hour on the train. So if you nap on the train you can sleep off stun damage equal to however many hits you make on a body+willpower check

Ok, well assuming this thing doesn't just rip out my brain with drain, i'll just be napping on the train.
Another point of curiosity, is it possible to using summoning to take over someone else's spirit? Banishing used to cancel services. I'll be honest, I'm feeling sorry for the poor water spirit, and am getting close to just freeing it and going with what we know so far. Don't really want to fight with Kingfisher, but dang that little guy is having a rough day.

This thing actually rolled really well in its resistance test. Unfortunately that means you will be taking a lot of drain. Not rip out your brain drain (it is still stun), but pretty extensive drain.

Yes, it is, sort of.
Basically what you have to do is banish it first, then before it leaves you can summon it to you. This takes 2 different complex actions. Note that in this way you are able to "summon" spirits that you otherwise would not be able to based on your tradition.

Re: Where is everyone going?
So how does that work, it owes me the hits on the summoning test as services, but I'm probably laying here with a seriously rung bell in the park?

It actually got more hits than you did, so it doesn't owe anything. As for how the drain glitch works I am still deciding how to rule that. I am leaning towards just saying that for drain/damage resistance a glitch just means you can't reroll it with edge, which is a bad enough penalty IMO. Especially since a glitch in another type of roll still gives you a positive result, but with some mishap. I'll make a post soon, but it wrecked your butt pretty good.

Oh well. I guess I'm just shit out of luck on this run then. Starting off badly hurt and still have nothing to show for my efforts.

Unfortunately yes. go ahead and roll here your body+will and get as many successes as you can (you may want to use edge on the roll)

Re: Where is everyone going?
Yeah, I'm not overly worried about it. That leaves me with 3 boxes of stun damage, which should only be a -1 or -2 wound modifier till I can get another hours rest.
I'm a little more worried about being dead flat broke. That train ride cost all the money I have.

Well that's why you are working The Johnson doesn't pay much, but there are some other opportunities to cash in on this mission. Unfortunately Sam missed the chance to pick up some pay data while in the koban, but there are still other things I have planned for some nuyen.

Yeah, I was under the assumption that you are currently with Torpor and Wujen, heading to the farm.

Re: Where is everyone going?
Watcher Spirits are still a thing that anyone can make, right?
Since I've failed for the moment with a Spirit of Man to keep up Increased Reflexes on me, having at least a watcher to keep an eye on astral space seems handy.
If not, I guess I can just have Little Dragon keep me appraised of what's going on Astrally.

Re: Where is everyone going?
Yes and no. They are a thing that any tradition can make, but require a ritual to create, which is much more of an ordeal to do than what summoning a watcher spirit used to be. Rituals are learned like spells but take longer to cast and can be potentially cast in a group, though they dont have to be. They also require the use of reagents and a magical lodge (permanent or temporary). I doubt Wujen has any of those things though. Note that one of the many editing errors in the book resulted in there not actually being a cost listed for ritual formulas in the book, but if you eventually go shopping, I'll give you one. Takes 5 karma to learn a ritual though, just like learning any spell.
It is certainly a thing you can pick up after this mission though. Pretty sure Wujen should have the karma and money for at least one ritual if he wants one. Might be tight getting rent money together and materials for a lodge. Living on the streets is hard.

Yeah, I don't have the ritual. I do have the materials for a rating 1 lodge (I think... that E resources was brutal) and reagents though. Oh well, I'll just keep an eye out myself.

I was assuming we were out of comms range of the city, but that the commlinks could form their own limited network. That's how the wireless matrix worked in 4th edition.

You could argue that the comms with the rest of us is through the Astral, and it's a sort of mind leak.
if that helps.

Re: Where is everyone going?
There's a spell for that, and it does not go anywhere near that far, unless they changed how detection spells worked significantly in 5th edition. The range of such spells are (or at least were) Force*Magic in meters, or the extended version got a multiplier of 10 for 2 more drain.
Even Sense Link with my Ally Spirit has a range of Magic*10 meters.

I should probably already know this, but can Sun benefit from my Increased Reflexes? I don't know if he has his own or not.
