    That makes it 5,000*0.8 = 4,000 / 6 = 666 nuyen each (quite an appropriate number, IMO)

    How do you want to handle logging initiations (particularly those which include ordeals)?
    Should we start a separate RP thread (perhaps in "Party Splits") wherein we include the Magic+INT roll?

    Also, I realized I miscalculated and I'm 1K short after paying for the group (I had thought it was closer to 3,000Y, not 5,000Y).  Can I start the ordeal and extended test now or do I need the full allotment of Karma to even begin?

    If you wish to also initiate that's 11 karma or less if you do an ordeal (I believe)

    I am not sure what the 5,000 nuyen is paying for. Initiation doesn't cost anything. The ritual will cost money as will the supplies to cast it, but that's for the group bond, not the initiation. As for initiation, the karma gets paid once you complete it. Not before you start. Of course if you don't happen to have that karma when you complete you wasted your time.

    As for how we log the initiations, it depends on what everyone does. So far you are the only one who has mentioned taking an ordeal. For those not taking an ordeal it's just a matter of rolling your dice to see how long it takes to complete. For those who are, then some rp will be called for. Whether that involves another split or not depends on the ordeal.

    Lets review the costs to make sure we have the numbers all right.

    The building: 4,000 split 6 ways = 667 each

    The ritual:
    purchasing cost: 2,000 (presumably you split it 4 ways? so 500 each)
    learning karma: 5 (and I think everyone magical is donating to have wujen learn it so 10K split 4 ways = 2,500 and then Wujen converts that money to karma for the ritual)
    ritual circle: either 100 or 2,500 total depending on if you want a permanent or temporary lodge. Presumably you want permanent, but that takes longer to complete
    5 karma each to participate in the ritual

    Initiation: base 13 karma
    -20% for your group
    -10% if you do an ordeal
    so either 10 or 9, depending on if you do an ordeal or not

    So assuming you made a permanent lodge of the minimum force required for the ritual, the final cost should be 4,292 nuyen and 5 karma to have your group formed and then 9-10 karma for initiation

    It will take about a week for Wujen to learn the ritual, prepare the lodge and then finally finish the ritual. You can shave 5 days off that if you go for a temporary lodge, but if you are building a lodge, you might as well go for a permanent one

    Here’s a pasta of the gist of it :

    The Nine Paths to Enlightenment are ordeals that sub- ject an Awakened character to physical and mental challenges in the physical or metaphysical world (see Metaplanar Quest, p. 140). These can entail finding answers through mediation or strength through suf- fering. Challenges can encompass arduous tasks, such as carrying a bucket of water up a thousand steps and filling a large tub one bucketful at a time, to more dan- gerous tasks, like being hung from a tree. Such chal- lenges are up to the gamemaster and should relate to the character’s background, tradition, and the magical art he is striving to learn. The time to complete the challenge is twenty-nine days, the period from new moon to new moon. To successfully complete the challenge, the magician chooses one of the nine paths and must succeed in an Opposed Test. Each enlight- ened path has two attributes; the gamemaster choos- es one, and the character takes the other. The player rolls the magician’s chosen attribute + current initiate grade, and the gamemaster rolls the magician’s other attribute + desired initiate grade. If the character fails, he may try again next lunar cycle. If the character suc- ceeds, that path may not be taken again for a future initiatory ordeal.

    There's a list of the 9 different trials on the page after it is mentioned. Each trial has 2 stats listed. I choose one of the two stats and then you get the other one. I add the desired grade to my dice (2 in my case) and you add the current grade to yours (1 in your case). We roll against each other. If you beat me, you complete the trial. If you don't, then you fail and have to spend another month at it.

    Remember that Torpor already gained a grade from the wish, so this would be your second grade you are going for. Your base karma for the increase is 16. This also affects the time it takes to complete the initiation.

    Sort of. It's a Magic + Intuition [Astral] (initiate grade, 1 month) Extended Test, which means that you need 2 hits on that test instead of 1 to finish it up. You'll probably still finish it in under a month, but perhaps longer than the others.
