    Ok.

I was thinking if worse comes to worse I could call a Spirit of Man and have it use Search to find me a peach tree or some peach wood.

I don't get Plants or Animals, so most of your more nature type stuff is out of my wheelhouse, but Spirits of Man are in a weird place.

It does come with some issues, though no worse than using sustaining foci.

Mostly trying to be subtle around someone else's astral barriers.

All the increased attribute spells are good options as they are not super obvious to an observer. Armor is nice, but it means you are going to be glowing all the time. I usually used it for increase reflexes, though something like oxygenate is good for breathing underwater, especially since the force doesn't matter for that particular use of the spell. The illusion spells are great if you want to mess with someone.

I once made a quadriplegic mage who had a sustaining focus with animate that he used to animate a chair to carry him around everywhere.

This may be a very stupid question, but... Why don't people just plant the stones found in the fruit of the last few peach trees, and grow more trees?

Another question: What material is my staff made off? The regular one, and the "very special" one? For the latter, I just need to know wood / stone / metal, not like "Stainless steel painted with an acryl-based paint" or such. It's mainly to know if it can take a hit from a sword.

This is not something you know off hand, but certainly something you can ask in character

Up to you what the regular one is made of. Graphite, hardwood, high-carbon steel, or some kind of composite are common. Mechanically though, you don't have to worry about it getting broken unless you critically glitch or something crazy.

As for the special one, you aren't sure. You were never told. Seems like wood perhaps? It's lacquered though so you can't tell for sure. Would have to get it analyzed if you really wanted to know.

Fair enough. Got another question. In unarmed combat, if I'd do a combo (eg. a lowkick, followed by a roundhouse kick, in one smooth movement, or a smack on the head by a staff immediately follow by a front kick in the guts), does that count as 1 "unarmed combat" attack, or does it count as 2 (or more, depending on how much goes on in the combo) attacks?
The idea behind the question is so I don't accidentally split my dicepool into 3 when I'm describing a single attack Laughing

You can feel free to describe your attack in any way you like. There are however specific martial arts with actual effects for certain techniques. So if you happen to have invested in a martial art and want to make use of one of those special moves, give an ooc note so that I know what you are doing.

I think it's in another book. It's kind of complicated anyway, so not a big deal if you didn't pick it up. Just a bunch of special techniques that add dice in specific circumstances that you end up having to memorize.

It's either in Run faster, or Run and Gun. I get confused over which has what because of their unfortunately similar names.

Martial Arts are in Run & Gun, along with more weapons (naturally), called shots and tactics.

Run Faster is also an excellent book, but it's more out-of-combat and character fluff - new metahuman variants (Koborokuru dwarves for instance), qualities and lifestyle options.

I'm going for the jackhammer approach.
Instead of nice fancy words I'm resorting to tears.
Now I can either do an extended test to see how it goes or just burn all 12 influence dice for a solid 3 successes per dice check. I reckon there's only so long any honourable man is going to leave a woman crying like a heartbroken child before they either kick them out or do whatever they wish to stop crying.
I went for the jackhammer extended test. Though if needs be I can just edit the post to have an influence check after every paragraph instead of every post. That priest will be putty in my hands.
I had a quick look at my extended test table in core book and I have enough successes to persuade the mayor to felate a goat on live TV. So that priest is going to be absolute mush.

Loving the fight guys keep it up.

lol. Regardless of the rolls, you aren't going to get a mayor to felate a goat on live tv unless he is secretly into bestiality and exhibitionism already.

Also, Kingfisher's approach to negotiation is always the jackhammer approach Razz

This isn't an extended test though and if it were, you rolled it incorrectly. Extended tests don't last forever. After each check, you subtract a die until eventually you have no dice at all, at which point you would have failed if you didn't make the threshold already.

I'll take whatever the first roll was for results. I don't know if you realize this or not, but social skills are usually opposed rolls, which means your successes have to beat the number of your target's successes, modified by how generally willing they are to accept what you are proposing. So it is possible to get a lot of hits and fail, or only 1 and succeed. So if you seem to roll well and not get anywhere, or roll crappy but they are still really accommodating, that would be why. As usual, if you know all this, ignore me, I just want to avoid confusion for both you as well as any of the other players who may or may not understand how the rules work.

And also, as always, if you aren't sure of something, ask. While my NPCs may want you to fail, I always want you all to succeed.

I like the "calm cop," "emotional hostage-taker" partnership that Sato and Kingfisher have going.  I look forward to it getting us in trouble, particularly with very culturally Japanese interactions.

Sato is hoping that we can get the priest to confirm that our ofuda and glyphs will do what the Prof said they would.

Great fight at the peach tree.  Development of tension and descriptive actions made me hang on to every post.

The rolls were certainly doing a lot to build the tension. I used her only edge on her first round's initiative roll to be able to get some hits in before your initiative advantage could overwhelm her, but you guys both kept rolling amazingly for defense and meh for attacks. Sun's penultimate attack was a glitch, but followed up with his last attack which was almost all successes. It was a fun match.
