((@chougou yes, his office hours are over. He has no scheduled office hours for a couple of days. As for sunset, it happens at exactly 7:00 every day, regardless of the season or part of the world you are in. Sunrise is at 6:00. The current time is fluid, as I don't think most of your posts are necessarily chronologically correct, but we'll say you are sometime between 6 and 8ish with the summoning happening sometime after 7))

The spirit says to Wujen, "I am known as Rock. I will see if I can find what you seek." The spirit then rolls away, presumably to do as told. Judging by the last spirit he sent on a search task, Wujen does not expect it back for an hour or so.

"Okay. So, I'll get us sewer maps tonight. WuJen and Sato will have their, uh... ghosts search the sewers. Chougou will search with the drones, with some um, aid combing through the vid streams. Torpor will craft the peach wood into some weapons.
What we need to figure out, is, uh, I think, is what kind of um, box to get or make, and how to get it or uh, make it."

Sam performs a matrix search looking for cheap coffins, or large sturdy coffin like boxes. Maybe a large steamer trunk.

Chougou sets up the drones and drives them to a central location to start tracing from the sewer.

Anybody that can help me to lift manhole covers and such?

Sam finds a site that sells used coffins for around 150 nuyen each. He finds large steel freezers for about the same price.

Chougou would also like to prepare 2 of his Aztechnology Crawlers and equip them with Yamaha Raidens and his Steel Lynx to be equipped with the Enfield AS-7 Shotgun to be picked up later when he gets back to his hovel. ((Can they equip themselves or do they require a human to do that for them?))

Sun slogs into the ramen shop, arms filled with peaches. He places them on the countertop, orders miso ramen with chicken and tamago, then notices he has messages on his commlink. Too many messages for him to stumble through, so he just doesn't bother to check.

    "Soooo you guys like peaches?"

((Sorry 'bout dropping in so late in the conversation. 9h drive yesterday -- all the more respect to truck drivers now! --, straight to bed, followed by a meeting covering the entire morning. Unlike Sun, I just caught up reading this thread now.))

Sato faces WuJen.  "The professor told us that properly activated and applied to the forehead, the ofuda would paralyze the Jianshi for a few minutes - long enough for us to place him in a properly prepared coffin.  There's also nothing stopping us from making a coffin-within-a-coffin if we have a steel refrigerator waiting in the van which will further protect the coffin once we extract it from the sewer system."

((See quote below https://gilon3010.forumotion.com/t37p25-mingmei-university, post 34))

((The professor hands you 5 slips of paper with writing on them. He says, "Okay, so these are called ofuda. They are sealing charms against evil spirits. Right now they are inactive, but any spellcaster can activate them by concentrating on them as they would a spell. Once the ofuda are active, you have a few minutes to place them on the forehead of a jiangshi. Anyone can do it at that point. If you can touch it properly, the magic in the seal should be attracted to the spirit and remain attached. The jiangshi will then be completely immobile for a few minutes, allowing you to place them in a suitable prison without further molestation. Or if you happen to have a stake of peach wood, you could just as easily slay them by driving it through their heart. Now these are powerful charms, but as you can see, they are only made of paper. Be careful not to damage them before you use them or they will be quite useless. Also do not activate them before you are ready to use them either.))

"You might add that whatever the research entails, it's unlikely to be pleasant for the creature. We heremetics view magic as a science, and leave no stone unturned when researching something. In this case the focus would be discovering any other weaknesses or finding new defenses against others of its kind. These creatures are rare, but it seems like they may outlive their only known weakness."

Sato sends a message to his kyodai “uncle” to respectfully request an audience to update him and request his advice about how to perform this operation cleanly (nemawashi). He is not specific about the nature of the threat.

((Drone weapons are not easy to snap on and off. You need tools and time, so the drones definitely can't do it on their own. You'd have to do it. It's not super involved, just a matter of bolting it all together, but not something most people do regularly. Weapons usually just permanently sit in your drones until you decide to swap them out or whatever.))

"Applying them to the forehead will disable them, that's right...who's up for that task though? Getting anywhere near the thing could let it eat us right? I wonder how alert they are to drone spiders..."

If dinner is done then I will offer a ride to anyone that needs it and go home and equip the drones to fight and the flying eyes to travel as well as the interfaces that people could use to control and view them as they travel. I expect that they would be mostly on autopilot, but I'd like for the others to be able to stop the drone and turn them around to examine things more closely, or to suggest new paths for them to take.
