Mission 5a - i-Sexbot

Several thoughts race through Emiko’s mind:

Excitement: “I got him! He didn’t chop my head off!”

Disappointment: “I just knocked out Tetsu.”

Panic: “Oh no, those guards are heading this way and Tetsu is knocked out.”

That’s when Emiko hears Tammy tell Sam to get down and he drops to the floor.” Emiko doesn’t wait for confirmation that she should do the same and, instead, drops down too and crawls to Tetsu to shield him.

When the sound of the turrets firing stops, Sam gets up and starts running towards the van again.

Emiko starts to shake Tetsu. “Get up! You have to get up, now!”

Emiko uses her commlink, “guys, I had to knock out Tetsu from trying to kill me but now I need help getting him out of here.”

"Use a stim patch," Sam says over the comm as he runs towards Tetsu, Emiko, and the van.

“Right, thanks Sam!”

Emiko attaches a stim patch to Tetsu’s skin.

Emiko says, “I’m going to try and disable the cars.”

“Sam, take this,” Emiko hands him her taser, “zap Tetsu if they take over his mind again.”

She turns to Tetsu, “no offense but you’ve tried to kill me once today.” She looks back at Sam and then back to Tetsu and says quietly to him, “if you see him raise that taser at me, he’s under a magic spell, knock him out.”

Emiko then uses her deck to send a data spike to the closer sedan.

Data Spike: 8 hits

Sam accepts the taser from Emiko, and gives his best approximation of a reassuring grin directed toward Tetsu.

The lack of eye contact, and the fact that the gri itself is not reflected in Sam's eyes make it unlikely that Tetsu will recognize the gesture as it is intended.

Emiko comes out of the matrix and says to Sam, “I didn’t see the cars’ icon, maybe you can do this better and faster than me,” and trades Sam her deck for her taser.

She then looks out the window and, upon seeing the dragonflies, readies her taser. When they are in range Emiko fires her taser at one.

Taser: 5 hits

Sam is surprised by Emiko thrusting her cyberdeck into his hands. He would never give someone else access to his deck.
But, he does feel more comfortable with this arrangement. He plugs into Emiko's deck, and gets to work.
First thing's first, he sets the attribute array to D8 F6 A4 S2.
Then he orders Bunta to help him search the area for hidden icons.

Sam rearranges the deck to A8, F6, D4, S2.

"I am not going to be able to stop the drones," Sam says, sending the message through comms to Tammy. "I found one of the car's icons. I will try to stop that car. But, I hope you can drive on flat tires."

Sam orders Bunta to help him send a data spike toward the car's icon. He extends his hands to send another volley of badass AR lasers at the icon, but, to his consternation, instead of lasers shooting from his fingertips, there is a paper bird. Oh well.

(11 hits, limited to 8 by attack rating. I don't know what programs are on Emiko's deck)

Emiko reloads her taser and aims for another drone.

Taser: 4 hits

Sam rubs his elbow, which was banged up from the toss, and fights back tears from the pain.

He fastens his seatbelt.
Then he swaps the Data and Attack attributes on Emiko's deck and orders Bunta to try to find hidden icons in the area. After Bunta reports its findings, Sam performs his own search.
(Bunta 5 hits, Sam 4 hits)

Emiko hears the clicks of seatbelts and decides that it’s for the best she does the same.

“I hope this doesn’t impede my shooting,” she thinks.

Emiko points her taser now passed the front of the van and at the group of remaining drones. She fires at one.

Taser: 3 hits

Sam swaps the attack and data processing attributes on Emiko's deck. Then he and Bunta attack the RCC, attempting to mark it. (6 hits)

Emiko adjusts her aim at another drone and fires the taser once more.

Taser: 3 hits

With Tammy's instruction to worry less about the car, and just focus on taking out the remaining couple of dragonflies, Sam turns his attention to the remaining drones. Bunto helps him unenthusiastically toss some paper at them in matrix space. (Data spike 11 hits limited to 8 by attack rating)

Inspired by Tammy’s request, Emiko ignores the feeling of having her organs jumbled by the bouncy ride and tries to target another drone. She squints and fires.
