Spelunking

Kin notices both tunnels and the direction they go. He gets Sun's attention and shows him thumb's up and then thumb's down, indicating a question as to which direction Sun would like to proceed.

Thinking there's less room for the tunnels to go up, and therefore they must end faster, Sun decides to finish the quick route first, to take the long route after that. He gives Kin a thumbs up as he makes his way along the tunnel upwards.

Sun turns to Kin, signaling the air tank is half full. Sun is just such a positive guy. Sure of himself, Sun thinks he can make it through further. Back is another story. He checks with his companion, first. He signals Kin to ask whether he wants to go on and risk getting stuck with an empty air tank, or go back and get extra tanks.

Kin points back toward the way they came. He'll explain to Sun the logic when they swim back to the basement.

Since his companion wants to turn back, Sun turns back and follows Kin back out.

As they remove their gear, Kin speaks to Sun about his decision.

"We need to get a spare tank and try this again. Even if we made it the the end of that tunnel, we don't know that it isn't just a single, enclosed room. We would be stuck there and still have to come all the way back with no air. When we come back, we can try either tunnel. Up to you."

They go back to the shop with the shirtless wonder and look into refilling their tanks and purchasing an additional tank for each of them.

Sun nods in agreement.
"I agree," he says. "I'd rather not be stuck in some cave."

After getting a spare tank each, and refilling their current tanks, they go back. As Sun has started the upwards tunnel, he feels he has to finish what they started first.
"I feel we have to finish what we started, first," he says. "Let's try the ridiculously long tunnel again. Third time's the charm"

Sun dives in and goes up the ridiculously long tunnel again.

Sun motions to Kin, asking if they continue on, or go back for a third tank each.

Once again, Kin points back from where they came. As they exit the water, Kin suggests they fill up their first two tanks and try the other tunnel.

With regret, Sun agrees. They may need one of WuJen's water spirits for the upper tunnel, so for now, the lower tunnel will be explored.

Passing Mushiba yet another time, the two start to get weird looks from him. They go back to refill their tanks, then back to the tunnels to explore the lower path.

Sun signals Kin to move back, thinking they're in the ruins that are known to be infested with killer drones, and not feeling like wiping these ruins clean of the machines. Once both are back behind the gate, they close it up and reinforce it any way they can.

Sun swims back to the entrace. Once out, he turns to Kin:

"That wasn't very useful! Thank god those drones don't go into water! You want to try the long tunnel again? I think we may need to ask for some magic assistance on that."

Sun gets his commlink out and hands it over to Kin.
"Can you call WuJen, please?", he says, not wanting to risk any embarrassment from using his phone in public.

Kin gives WuJen a call and explains the situation they're in and that he and Sun are looking to send a spirit down into the longer tunnel and see if WuJen has a suggestion.

"Sure thing, I'll be down in the morning."

WuJen arrives at the compound shortly after the sun comes up to check out the tunnel. Seeing Sun and Kin with their diving gear he summons up a water spirit to help them explore the underwater tunnel.
