Description
Misaki is a young, petite, spunky, Desian student with long, often highly stylized hair. In casual circumstances, she is usually seen wearing girly, colorful, goth-punk clothing, but also dresses up in raver fashion whenever she goes to dance clubs. She makes liberal use of makeup, but is skilled enough to make it appear rather subtle. Misaki has numerous piercings on her brow, and ears.
Misaki is a high school student in a prestigious school, so outside of casual circumstances, she usually has to wear a high school uniform when attending classes. The school is conservative, so she has to dial down her makeup and reduce the display of piercings, though she still tends to push the boundaries.
Misaki is very animated, and will bounce in her seat listening to her dance tunes or electro-darkwave music when the surroundings aren’t interesting to her.
Personality
Despite her small stature, the Desian teen is strong-headed and colorful in her personality. She goes after things that she wants, and isn’t easily swayed in other directions. Although she easily makes friends, she tends to hang out with a core group of girls at school, and is quick to judge others.
Background
Hiroyuki Ogawa was a highly successful shadowrunner in his younger days, working primarily as an electronics and infiltrations expert. He and his team were notable for breaking into highly secured corporate installations to obtain key artifacts. After a near death experience during a failed mission, Hiroyuki was approached by Denso Electronics to work as a security consultant. Already wealthy, and hoping for a career with lower risk, Misaki’s father accepted the job. Misaki’s mother, Yukari, is a search and rescue rotorcraft pilot. Yukari was famous in aviation circles for her agility with aircraft piloting.
With a lucrative corporate job and accumulated wealth from shadowrunning, the Ogawa family enjoyed an upper class lifestyle. Although Hiroyuki Ogawa tried to establish a stable everyday lifestyle, lingering mental trauma from his shadowrunning days induced some instability into their livelihoods, stemming from Hiroyuki’s substance dependencies.
Misaki otherwise grew up in a safe, albeit overly enabled household. She struggled to match her older brother’s academic success, and gave up trying to. Instead, she indulged in freewheeling fun amongst her high school’s social circles, joining the car clubs amongst her wealthy peers, and going to raves.
During this time, she developed an interest in auto racing. Her father didn’t provide permission to Misaki to buy a car, so Misaki worked in a maid cafe until she saved up enough money to buy her own. She continued working various jobs, even working in various rideshare services, in order to buy modifications for her car and participate in car club activities.
The Aomori High Racing Club had some affiliation with the Drift Club. One of the fellow students, Shunji Masaharu, had an uncle who was in the Drift Club. Through this connection, Misaki began to become involved in Drift Club events as well.
In order to fund her increasingly expensive habits, and to stave off boredom, Misaki started to become entrepreneurial, and used her vehicles for courier services. She performed various transport and delivery services, and even began offering security escorts for lower budget patrons, those who couldn’t afford full corpsec contracts. This sort of work evolved into shadowrunning activities, during which Misaki accumulated a small collection of well armed drones.
Misaki worked frequently with a fixer named Shohei Akihara, who was impressed with Misaki’s skills, resources, and focus, unusual for a girl of her age. Shohei introduced Misaki to a shadowrunning group led by Weiyang Guo known as the Spiders. Working with this group, Misaki provided valuable remote monitoring and vehicle management services, and Weiyang Guo taught Misaki about many of the deeper considerations of shadowrunning activities.
The interaction was short lived however, as one of the other members on Weiyang’s crew became independently wealthy. Weiyang and the crew decided to split, and Misaki found herself back to her independent work as a rigger contractor.
Other Facts:
- Misaki recently wrecked her modded car: a heavily modded Hyundai Shin-Hyung. She has recently purchased a BMW 400GT with insurance money, but has been unable to afford any aftermarket modifications. Race club and Drift club members are teasing Misaki incessantly about her slow, stock wheels.
- Misaki also has a deep interest in music. Her commlink is filled with electro-industrial, darkwave, and synthpop music, and she harbors fantasies about becoming a DJ. She has a deep-seated fear of making performance mistakes in public however, and that has prevented her from making any attempts at a public career as a DJ.
- Misaki recently broke up with her boyfriend, Yuichiro Sadahara, a charming and popular student in Aomori High School, who seemed to be jealous of Misaki’s frequent association with the boys in the school race club.
